photocreditjohnnyblackZiggy Marley is bringing music to the LITTLE people! He is releasing his first children’s album and has invited some family and pretty cool friends to join him on it. Jack Johnson, Laurie Berkner, Elizabeth Mitchell and Jamie Lee Curtis are only a few of the artists featured on the CD Family Time, in stores May 5th. In addition to some well known classics like “This Train” and “Hold Him Joe” Ziggy has written many original songs on this release which are endearing tributes to his family with many sage words of wisdom for kids.

Our family tends to connect through music and when the lyrics are meaningful, the connection is that much stronger. My family immediately latched on the well-versed tracks like “I Love You Too” and “Walk Tall.” Personally, listening to “Take Me To Jamaica” gave me a chance to have my own mental get-a-way in the midst of a busy day. We moved to the rhythmic fun of “Ziggy Says” and pondered the power behind the messages in two short stories included on the album, “Helping Hands” and one by Jamie Lee Curtis.

Says Ziggy, “Growing up, music was an important part of my childhood. I see it being just as important in my children and all children’s growth and development, to help them grow with open minds and open hearts… This record represents my daily family life and is inspired by my three-year-old daughter Judah and baby Gideon. It was a joy to make and opened up new avenues in my creativity.”

I know you’re family will enjoy Ziggy’s Family Time CD just as much as we do. And from now through June 1st, you can enter for a chance to receive a copy of his CD. I’m giving away a total of four (4) copies, and one lucky Grand Prize winner will also receive an Apple iPod Shuffle (1 GB)!

I’d love to listen to Ziggy’s new family CD. As a family, we listen to a lot of music of all different types – from “kids” to alternative to punk to country to classical to “world” – we listen to it all and talk about the differences. Sometimes we sit & listen, sometimes we dance, sometimes we have it on in the background while we do other things. :)

Great giveaway! Music is a big part of our family life. My oldest was 2 when his baby brother was born. Every time the baby would cry, the 2-year old would drop what he was doing and “make him a song” (on his guitar, his toy saxophone, his drums, whatever was handy!) Even now at almost 5 and 3, I’ll sometimes hear one of them wake up in the night with a bad dream or something and before I can get to their room, the other one is singing to soothe him. I can’t wait to check out Ziggy’s new CD!

Music is a funny thing in my house. Depending on the music/song, it connects my daughter and me, and we can sing along and dance together. Like playing her Disney Princess or Hannah Montana songs. But when I’m listening to the radio (top 40 music) and enjoying non-Disney music, I’m told that it’s noisy and hurting someone’s ears :)

Music is a way of creating memories for my family. I still tease my teenagers about how we would sing the Barney “I love you” song before they went to sleep. With my five-year-old twins, we’re creating new memories with new songs…mostly more TV show theme songs! But they evoke a lot of fun times just chillin’ out together and watching TV as a family.

Hi there.
I saw Ziggy on Jay Lenos show the other night and was excited to see he is doing a children’s album.
We are ALWAYS listening to music in our house. I think it is a great tool to expose DD to different cultures and languages. It is a great language learning tool, workout, and bonding time. We love it!
I twittered about it and subscribed to your RSS.

Hi. Music is a huge part of our family. We love all kinds of music, especially “world” music and instrumental/dance music. We love African, Cuban, salsa, flamenco, Indian, you name it! And we are adopting siblings from Ethiopia soon and we’d love for them to hear and love Ziggy Marley’s music (and Bob!) like we do! And an iPod Shuffle would be great way to introduce them to the pleasure of music! Thanks! Amy

In our home, music is very often playing in the background. We also have a wall clock that plays a classical piece every hour. Our children can name the composer and the piece! I think that music is a cultural affair and believe children should be exposed to all types of music.
Playing an instrument is also pursued in our home. This is only our children have the ability and want to play an instrument. Please enter my name in your delightful prize drawing. Many thanks, Cindi

We’re all verified music addicts here. From the time we get up in the morning, while we’re doing our work and through the evening we have our iPod’s connected. I honestly don’t think I’d make it through the day well without it.
