The other day, I found a ragged copy of a Where’s Waldo? book carefully tucked away – Ok fine. It was wedged behind a bookshelf along with an unbelievable amount of dust, alright? – and was immediately drawn into the search for Waldo. As I scanned the pages for the familiar red and white striped shirt and hat, it occurred to me that owning a blog can be a lot like a Where’s Waldo picture.
In 2007, David Sifry, CEO and founder of Technorati, reported that more than 120,000 blogs were created each day. Considering the popularity of blogs, I’m sure that number is even higher today. The point is that it’s tough to get noticed in the blogosphere, so you’ve gotta stand out.
One way, I’ve been told to stand out and gain popularity is to update your blog – a lot. This appears to be a great strategy for many blog owners who I see posting updates daily – sometimes even multiple times a day!
Personally, I can’t keep up that kind of frequency so there are periods when my blog will be silent. In those moments, I’m tempted to fill the silence with quick tips, irreverent musings and other nonsense, but I resist. Usually those posts are ego-driven, lack luster and are a downright bore to read. I’ve decided that if I don’t have anything significant to say, I won’t say anything. Why bog you down with my rambling banter?
All this to say, I’m still here, working in the background – on a new project, actually. One that needs more attention than I do here on this blog. So, don’t leave. Just sign up for my RSS feed and when I have something to say, you’ll be the first to know.
Looks like you're new here - thanks for stopping by! Be sure to sign up for automatic updates so you don't miss anything. And please do leave a comment! It's no fun if we're not talking.

I totally agree. Sometimes I just don’t have anything to say that I think anyone would want to read. It can be tempting to put something on there just to have an update, but I agree that it’s better to wait until you have something you really care about saying.
Thanks for making me feel better about it
You have a valid point. I would post everyday, but quickly decided that I didn’t like several of my posts. Instead I post when I really feel like I have something to say. That could be 5 times a week or 2 times a week.
