If you’re looking for some ideas to keep your kids entertained this summer, here is my short list of ideas:

  • Buy the book, The Family Manager’s Guide To Summer Survival. It’s a terrific resource that you’ll access every year.
  • In various cities around the US, Harkins Theatres is offering a Summer Movie Fun pack where you can view a previously run children’s flick all summer long. Here is AZ, we paid $7 for 10 movies per person…what a deal!
  • Get crafty at The Knack, a service of Michael’s.
  • Check out your city’s recreation center for fun summer activities. I was amazed at the free to low-cost opportunities for my kids this summer, from classes to a weekly field trip package.
  • Visit your local library for reading programs.
  • Stroll through some cool stores. One of my favorites is IKEA. Just be sure to establish a budget and communicate it with your kids, “We’re going to IKEA to have breakfast, play for a short while and window shop. If you want to buy something for yourself, then decide how much you want to take out of your piggy bank first.”
  • Need a break? Set up an account with SitterCity to find a great sitter to watch your kids.
