October is an important month for women

I love October. By now, I’ve recovered from the summer break and fallen into a nice work-life groove. Plus, the weather is finally cooling (it was only 75 degrees when I dropped the kids off at school this morning, down from the usual 90s). Plus, my birthday is later this month and well…that’s always a reason to love October. :)

But aside from my personal interest in the month, October also marks two very important campaigns that speak directly to working moms.

In honor of these two important campaigns, my posts this month will focus on issues related to women’s health and breast cancer awareness, as well as the importance of work-life effectiveness as a business and national imperative.

So stick around, as I spread my love of October by increasing awareness and educating others about two initiatives that will improve the lives of not only working mothers, but everyone.

October is also & has long (even longer I think than the others) been National Domestic Violence Awareness Month – another issue which directly impacts women and children everywhere. See President Obama’s Proclamation for this year here: http://www.whitehouse.gov/the_press_office/Presidential-Proclamation-National-Domestic-Violence-Awareness-Month/

Thank you Danielle for bringing this to my attention! Domestic violence is definitely an issue that matters to women and children. Off to read Obama’s proclamation now. Thanks again.
