Visit Mary Beth Evans on Hybrid MomThanks to my friends at Hybrid Mom, I had an opportunity to interview fellow entrepreneur and mom, Mary Beth Evans. You might recognize Mary Beth’s name and photo from her work as an actress. But what you may not know about her is that’s she’s been the owner of Mary Beth’s Apple Pie Company since 2005. She’s also a regular blogger for Hybrid Mom.

Between work, family and other interests, Mary Beth understands the work-life juggle. I hope you enjoy this inside peek into how Mary Beth manages it all:

Name: Mary Beth Evans Schwartz
Profession: Actress, Pie Maker, Decorator
Children: Danny 22, Katie 19, Matthew 16

Tell us more about your work/business.
First off, I would say I am an actress. I have worked on three separate Soap Operas for 23 years and squeezed in many guest spots on episodic TV. In 2005, I started Mary Beth’s Apple Pie Company on a dare from my husband. I sold 300 large apple pies in seven minutes on QVC and thousands more through my website and others. This season I have focused my efforts on mini apple and pumpkin pies for Williams-Sonoma.

What do you enjoy most about your work/business?
I like being creative. Product development is my favorite.

How has motherhood caused you to reinvent yourself and your work?
I have always liked things a little crazy, so working and motherhood certainly rev things up. I like to set examples for my children and show them a real work ethic. There is always juggling, sometimes it goes better than others. I try to make the time with them count.

What motivates you to press on when you’re faced with the challenges of working motherhood?
I like to keep my commitments. I will say yes and suffer the consequences later. I stay on things until I get them accomplished.

What is one piece of advice you’d offer mothers trying to make sense of the work-life juggle?
Ultimately know you are setting a good example. Be as present as you can when you are with them. Snuggle when watching TV together, let them know how much you love and care for them endlessly!

Mary Beth, I agree with you 100% on your response about setting examples. It’s one of the best things we can do for our children. Telling them is one thing but showing them is priceless!!
