Make Your Vote Count

I’ve stayed away from the politics on this blog, mostly because I’ve never really been interested in the topic. (Gasp! I know…I may lose a some readers over that statement.) But more importantly, I’ve stayed away from politics because this year’s presidential race has become so divided and negative. I’m just not interested in getting involved in some of the blatant disrespect and ugliness I’ve witnessed personally, on the news and even online.

Despite all this, I do recognize the importance of a single vote, which is why I’ve been an active, registered voter since I turned 18. Plus, when I consider how recent women were granted the right to vote, it makes my vote even more relevant and necessary.

While I may shrink to the background the moment a conversation turns political, I will make some noise about women exercising their right to vote. That’s why I was so excited to see TodaysMama, League of Women Voters and Sittercity.com collectively launch MamaVote last year, a non-partisan, education and inspiration-based initiative that encourages mothers to get involved in the political process.

So this is a shout out to all working moms, your busy schedule may prevent you for taking time out for yourself, but don’t let it get in the way of fulfilling your civic duty as a registered voter.
